California Alliance of Caregivers partnered with Liberty Towers Church/Impact Sac, a nonprofit family resource center with multiple programs that serve youth and families. Impact Sac’s programs include a youth center, parent support groups, meal and tangible needs programs, and additional events and support for families in the North Highlands community of Sacramento. Impact Sac is part of the Black Child Legacy Campaign. Key informant interviews, focus groups, and individual surveys highlighted the need for training on mental health services advocacy, compassion fatigue and self-care, respite, navigation, and trauma-informed care training. We arranged three training sessions on Saturday for parents and caregivers. The training included Trauma Informed Care, Education Advocacy, and Modelling Self-Regulation and De-Escalation.
