At the invitation of the author, Senator Wahab, attended a stakeholders’ meeting to express concerns regarding SB402, which would allow any mental health professional in private practice to write 5150 holds including on persons who are not their patients. Current law limits hold-writers’ authority (it must be tied to their employment for a general acute care hospital, mental hospital, or designated member of a mobile crisis team).
